Temporary Protection
If the IRS has sent you a "nasty-gram", or even
if you just feel them "gaining on you", it's best to make sure you're
covered if they start getting too close for comfort!
We can do this through any one of three or
more ways, depending on your current situation.
Temporary "Hold"
Normally, the IRS will agree to "put their guns away" for a limited
period if they understand you're looking at options for permanent
relief. A "hold" may be granted for anywhere from thirty days to
nine weeks. This gives you time to "catch your breath" and look
at options for where to go from here. (we'll of course be happy to go over
the options that are available for your particular situation.)
Short-term Installment Agreement
You can enter into a payment agreement with the IRS as a short-term solution,
and it may even make sense to consider it as a part of your long-term
solution.
And, as long as you keep up with
your installment payments as well as your CURRENT taxes, they can't touch
you!
Currently Not Collectible Appeal
If your normal household expenses plus your current taxes would be greater than
your average monthly income, we can ask the IRS to put your case "on the
back burner". This means you don't have to make any payments at
all towards your back taxes. Very often, the IRS will agree to this
status for 15 up to 24 months!...that's TWO YEARS!
Again, it's possible, depending on
your specific situation, that this could be a key part of your long-term, permanent
solution.

Again, the main idea with all of these
short-term solutions is to give you some financial breathing room.
One of our expert tax consultants will be
happy to discuss one or more of these options with you.
